ABOUT SHEPHERD`S HUT
Shepherds Hut Wines was established in 1996. The vineyard is situated in the eastern foothills of the Porongurup Ranges in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
The vineyard is named after an historic 1860s stone hut which was found in ruins on an adjacent property. Built of beautiful honey-coloured Mt Barker stone, the hut was one of four in the district which was used by local shepherds as shelter while tending to their flocks. The hut has since been rebuilt and now overlooks the vineyard, with spectacular views to both the Porongurup and Stirling ranges.
Shepherds Hut is a family business. We created the vineyard from the ground up on north facing slopes of our working sheep farm. We are involved in managing the vineyard, marketing, distributing, and of course enjoying our wines.
It has always been a passion of ours to run our own vineyard and produce wines made from grapes sourced from the one vineyard both for ourselves and others to enjoy.
